There are only 5 days left until the 8th bi-annual Desert Hearts Festival in the Los Coyotes Indian Reservation on April 1-4, 2016! This alternative, underground, transformational house and techno festival in Southern California has been garnering international attention ever since it started 3 years ago, making several top 10 headlines and many seasoned festies claiming it as one of the best festivals in the world. The Desert Hearts crew, consisting of Mikey Lion, his brother Porkchop, Lee Reynolds, Marbs, and Deep Jesus, came together when they decided to combine their DJ residency nights in San Diego and have since grown a respected brand and gathered a strong cult following of electronic music fans everywhere.

So what is it about Desert Hearts that makes it so notable?

The finest music. Desert Hearts is known for delivering 3 days/72 hours of round the clock, non-stop underground house and techno. With powerful Funktion One speaker systems delivering top notch sound, and international DJs spinning  the best house and techno music from around the world, you can get exactly what you want, whenever you want it. More than just a festival, Desert Hearts is also a record label run by Mikey Lion, releasing tracks and mixes on Soundcloud. Check it out here: https://soundcloud.com/desert-hearts-records

The remote location. Set in an Los Coyotes Indian Reservation and run completely by volunteers, Desert Hearts is not the easiest festival to access. The lack of showers, running water, or electricity would steer many would be festies away. However the artistic community vibe, combined with the small police presence on the premises, Desert Hearts creates a safe haven giving off a feeling of freedom and independence that few festivals can offer.

One Stage, One Vibe, One Love. There is only one stage at Desert Hearts, not because of size or capacity but by design. With a relatively small campgrounds finding friends is easy and there are never any scheduling conflicts. Partially Burning Man in aesthetic and principle, those who have been to Desert Hearts or attended a City Hearts tour show say that the family vibe makes you feel like you are a part of something bigger than yourself.
