Wanderlusting for More

written by Mia Nissen

Often times I go into festivals with the intention of making it to yoga every morning. Often times, I fail. Not because I want to, because in reality, yoga classes are part of the reason I purchase my ticket. But after staying up til dawn dancing and sunshine beating down on my tent before I can get in anything more than a power nap, trekking out to a yoga class is tough. Perhaps I’m not as committed as I could be to my practice. Maybe I should give up making it to just one more set every night. Or more likely, I just need a change of pace during festival season.

This is where Wanderlust comes in.

Wanderlust is a traveling festival focused on the art of mindful living. It offers countless yoga and meditation classes, speakers, and outdoor activities to help you (and me), come back to our centers. Of course there is music too, because we all know dancing like nobody’s watching is the best kind of therapy. While I am looking forward to getting my mind right at Wanderlust Aspen-Snowmass, taking place June 30th-July 3rd, there are several other locations festivals will be held this summer across the U.S and Canada; find one near you here.

Speaker Spotlight

Of all the speakers that will be at Wanderlust Aspen-Snowmass, Prince Ea is the one I am most eager to catch. A YouTube sensation that always calls it like it is, he can address political, social, and environmental issues with tact and ease. Prince Ea is a must-see for anyone interested in opening their mind, hearing some truth, and making a change. You may recognize him from his emotion-packed video “Dear Future Generations: I’m Sorry” featured below.

Artist Spotlight

Son Little has taken the rhythm & blues world by storm, and will be a part of the music lineup for Wanderlust Aspen-Snowmass. Honestly, there are few other artists that I’d want to see among the Aspen trees more than him. Son Little has three separate performances during the weekend, one of which accompanies a yoga class slated to be full of “heart expanders, hip openers and constant movement to wring out anything weighing you down.” This is definitely a dream-that-I-didn’t-know-I-had come true. Check out Son Little below, and imagine yourself flipping your dog and backbending away to this soulful tune.

Grab your kombucha and get ready to move your asana! Wanderlust is the perfect way to take a break from the regular festival season madness and realign your mind, body, and soul.
