Summer in Ohio is about to get hotter thanks to PromoWest Fest. The first of it’s kind for this Ohio-based production company, PromoWest is going big with headliners like The Flaming Lips, Modest Mouse, and Snoop Dogg, plus other artists covering genres from rock to psychedelic, rap, and electronic. Here are a few reasons why I’m going to be there, and why you should too!
1. Diverse lineup
A few artists in particular give PromoWest’s lineup the kind of genre nuance I crave. If you’re at all in to reggae and/or dance music, Milky Chance is an act you don’t want to miss. Their unique sound is influence by both genres, and they never fail to put on a good show. Banners is an arguably underrated artist with a soul/pop feel, and worth getting an early start on Friday to see. Rap/R&B legend LL Cool J is also on the lineup for anyone ready see this legend living live and in person.
2. Explore a small city
As the capital of Ohio, Columbus has a lot to offer. Visit the state building, take a stroll through the multiple parks within walking distance of the Arena District, dine at local and chain restaurants, and satisfy your artsy side with museums like the Center of Science and Industry and the Columbus Museum of Art.
3. Unleash your inner craft beer connoisseur
To beat the heat, you can cool off with a refreshing beer, cider, or wine. Over ten breweries will set up shop at PromoWest Fest, and who doesn’t love a nice IPA or stout during a concert?
