The first time I heard psytrance I couldn’t help but think, “What is this?! Where can I get more?!” I searched for some underground shows and stumbled upon PsyTribe U.S.A. Founded by Andy Barakuda, aka Barakuda, nearly 20 years ago with the hopes of bringing a stronger presence of Psytrance to the States.
With less than two weeks to go, many are getting ready to venture to the 11th edition of Spring Frequency Festival. Held in the hills of the La Jolla at the Indian Campgrounds, goers will be able to find PsyTribe founder Barakuda on the decks along with veterans Tristan and Treavor Moontribe. For variety, the Spring Stage will boast techno and house beats provided by artists such as Desert Hearts alum Machino and Moontribe’s Synchronometry. With art installations and lounging areas by Symbiotic Creations, one can relax or dance the night away while taking in the sights and sounds of this unique festival.
