With Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2017 just around the corner, I decided to take a closer look at the lineup to find some hidden gems that you might not have heard of and definitely shouldn’t pass up on. With over 150 artists playing over the four days it is impossible to see everyone so picking the bands you want to see is important! The Front Bottoms, Greensky Bluegrass, and Twiddle are just a few of the artists that I’m looking forward to seeing at Roo this year.

The Front Bottoms

The Front Bottoms started with two guys from New Jersey that formed an indie rock band and first hit the stage in 2007. Since then the band has released five albums, played numerous venues and festivals across America and have also opened for bands such as Weezer and Tenacious D. In the summer of 2015 The Front Bottoms announced that they signed with Fueled by Ramen. I was first introduced to this band a couple years ago when my brother and friend fell in love with them. “Twin Size Mattress” and “Maps” are just some of their songs that we played on repeat. The band just recently announced that they are going on tour this summer in the UK with Blink 182! That means that Bonnaroo will be the band’s last show before heading over seas so don’t miss your chance to see them! They take the stage early Saturday to help kick off a loaded day of music.

Greensky Bluegrass

Greensky Bluegrass is a bluegrass band with a rock & roll soul to them from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Greensky first came together seventeen years ago and have released nine studio albums and played countless shows in that span. The band has played venues and festivals across the country including Red Rocks Amphitheater and The Werk Out Music and Arts Festival. This will be the band’s first time performing at Bonnaroo. I’ve seen this band play three times over the past couple years and cannot wait to get the chance to watch them again. Their rock and roll influenced bluegrass is perfect for getting up and dancing to or just kicking back in the grass and relaxing. The songs “Demons” “Leap Year” and “In Control” are just a couple of my personal favorites. Come join me on Sunday for a little bluegrass music to close out what should be a fantastic weekend on the farm!

Twiddle

Twiddle is a jam band from Vermont that first came together in 2004. The four members incorporate genres such as rock, bluegrass, jazz, reggae, and funk whenever they take the stage promising for a new and unique performance every time. Twiddle has become a staple band for festivals over the past few years and have no intention of slowing down. “When it Rains, it Poors” “Jamflowman” and “Frankenfoot” are a few songs of theirs that I’m looking forward to hearing again live. Twiddle will be apart of many festivals other than Bonnaroo including Summer Camp, Mountain Music Festival, Levitate, Camp Bisco and a show in late August at Red Rocks! Twiddle will help kick off the weekend with a performance Thursday afternoon!

Needless to say I can’t wait to make my way down to Manchester, Tennessee to experience my first ever Bonnaroo. The line up is full of incredibly talented musicians that will contribute to a weekend that we won’t soon forget!
