Today in a six minute YouTube video Insomniac Events FINALLY announced it’s much anticipated changes. A longer, special message from Insomniac Founder Pasquale Rotella was also posted to their website giving further details.

The event will now take place May 18, 19 and 20. Despite many rumors, this is NOT Memorial Day weekend. For those concerned about conflicts this is actually the weekend BEFORE. So break out your calendars and start planning!
The festival will go from dusk to dawn and hopefully have cooler temperatures. This is a relief after this years event had triple digit numbers every night.

New stage designs and opening ceremonies on the cosmicMEADOW lawn each day were also mentioned in this announcement. Rotella indicated that the opening ceremony will be one stage featuring extended sets from artists. He hopes that this early opening will aide with traffic into the speedway.

To further help with transportation issues, the shuttle service is going to be handled by an independent company that specializes in these kinds of events. Rotella also mentioned that the speedway construction will be completed. This will add another lane of traffic.

What’s more? For the first time ever camping will be offered! There will be a variety of options — including tent camping, sound camps, and RVs. This will not only help with traffic each night but could create a unique culture change for the festival. By allowing attendees to camp, the festival lets guest create a special kind of bond only found when living with other attendees. Those who choose to camp will also get a fourth day!
