MGMT Returns With First Single In Four Years

When you think of the perfect Halloween song, you probably think of songs like “Thriller,” by Michael Jackson, “Monster Mash,” or my personal favorite, “This is Halloween,” from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Time to rethink your decision because there’s a new song in Halloweentown.

On Tuesday, MGMT released their first single in four years, the title track for their upcoming fourth album, Little Dark Age. Excited was an understatement for me. I’m a huge fan of MGMT, and getting to see them twice this past May at both Beale Street Music Festival and Hangout Music Festival was the highlight of my entire summer. I had a little sneak peak of some of the new MGMT tunes during their performance at Beale Street, and I knew it wouldn’t be long before we heard some more new sounds from them. “Little Dark Age,” was one of the new tracks they played for us in Memphis, and I was in love. The release could not have come at a more perfect time. The Urban Outfitters Halloween playlist at work was cute at first, but now I’m totally sick of every “spooky” song out there, I needed something different. This new sinister spin on the usual psychedelic MGMT sound is the perfect track to get anyone excited for October 31st (or the entire month on October, if you celebrate it the right way). Listen for yourself here.

Anddddd……….

Not only were we blessed this Halloween season with a new song, but we also get a new video to go with it. Complete with a messy haired Andrew VanWyngarden, a vaping guy in an all-black morphsuit, wood and fruit chopping, fencing, magic tricks, hand shadow puppets, and lots of apple eating. Check out this nightmare of a music video for “Little Dark Age.”

As of now, the only upcoming show MGMT has on their official site is November 11th and 12th at HOC Fest in Miami. Be sure to snag some tickets now!
