Getting to Know CRSSD Spring Festival 2018

Did you enjoy your break from festival season?

No? Me neither!

Which is why I am ecstatic about the return of CRSSD Spring Festival to help me get back into the swing of things. CRSSD is a festival that pairs down its production to focus on what is really important: quality music and coastal vibes. Beer, too.

Last year, CRSSD absolutely won me over with its seemingly effortless curation of a laid-back California experience. The extensive craft beer offerings (cucumber sour beer? yes please) along with the seamless, diverse lineup (a dose of Chromeo paired with The Magician? Yummy!) left me completely satisfied by the end of the weekend.

Before we go on- a bit of advice. I have had conversations with friends whose past CRSSD experiences have been slightly dampened when met with a hopeless ultimatum at the entrance: throw the Camelbak away or leave. That’s right- no hydration packs are allowed into the CRSSD venue. Each festival-goer is only permitted to bring in one empty clear water bottle that is 24oz or less. There are water refill stations to fill up once inside the venue.

Now, moving on to the fun stuff.

With several festivals vying for your attention, you may wonder why CRSSD is where you need to be during the weekend of March 3rd + 4th.

Nombe

Nombe is gracing the lineup of CRSSD, and not to toot my own horn, but I totally saw this one coming. Nombe, along with his ultra-dope all-female band, is taking over the festival scene (and probably, the world). His first full-length album is set to drop on Valentine’s Day which gives you ample time to get to know his smart, passionate, and diverse electronic-soul grooves. He has been my must-see artist for the past couple of years and I can honestly say I will never get tired of his rockstar performances.

Prepare for his luscious set by listening to his latest bangin’ release:

Fashion

You will have some festival “purists” that like to believe fashion is a distraction, and that it’s all about the music. Well, I beg to differ. Fashion and festivals go hand-in-hand, and the best truly do come out at CRSSD. This is a great festival to get a grasp on all of the current trends and to let your sharpest styling skills come into play. If you are not sure what to rock, hit up your local vintage store or score some one-of-a-kind looks from fabulous San Diego based, The Thriftsy Gypsy. And if fashion isn’t your thing, not to worry- shorts and t-shirts are equally prevalent and accepted.

Location

I’m not here to try and convince you that San Diego is the place to be, because duh, but the location of CRSSD is actually perfect. The three stages are easily accessible and dispersed throughout the venue. Even at the most crowded times, Waterfront Park can accommodate the crowds without you even realizing how many people are there. The park is nestled between the San Diego County building and the San Diego Bay which provides beautiful backdrops if you’re looking for a flawless Insta moment. Plenty of hotels and AirBnB’s are available, and the San Diego Airport is only a mile away. While the venue insists that you utilize a rideshare service, there are public parking lots scattered within a mile radius of the venue. See what I mean? Perfect.

Don’t miss out on this beautiful experience that will correctly kick off your 2018 festival season!
