Tomorrowland Lineup Reflects Changing Music Festival Landscape

In true Tomorrowland like fashion, the festival has dropped an incredible phase one line up of artists. Anticipation has been building over the past week as they gradually released names. In a series of videos the festival slowly revealed a lineup packed with veterans along with a some newcomers. Hundreds of artists will play across twelve stages over the two weekends of the festival.

The main stage is stacked with some of the biggest names in the world like Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Carl CoxHardwell, Steve Aoki, Martin Garrix, Alison Wonderland, and many more. In addition, artists like Claude Vonstroke, Nervo, Rezz, Richie Hawtin, Seven Lions, and other also fill this mammoth bill.

Most artists on the lineup are who you expect to find, but a couple like singer Dua Lipa and rapper French Montana stand out. The festival has historically always been host to a wide array of electronic artists. This year, they changed things up by expanding outside their usual range. While the addition of these two artist does not represent a huge shift in the festival’s vibe, it does reflect a trend that has been shaping the festival landscape worldwide. Recently, more and more electronic lineups have been shifting to include more hip-hop and major festivals have been featuring more electronic artists as headliners. Overall, festival lineups have become more and more diverse. Pending on how well these artists are received at this festival, we may see this trend continue.

The festival sold out it’s 400,000 tickets in a little over and hour over this past weekend, solidifying it’s place as one of the most popular events in the world.
