Back to the Burbs: Bigger, Better, and Bass Heavy [Giveaway]

Written By Natasha Lenart

Coming back for its second year at Chesterfield Amphitheater, Burbs Music and Arts Festival is shaping up to be an amazing one-day festival on August 4th in Chesterfield, MO. Bringing the festival to life are St. Louis locals DownRight Entertainment and Unknown Frequency. The event will feature two stages. The main stage called, The Amp Stage, will be located within the amphitheater that features fixed and lawn seating. The second stage called The Jam Stage, will be just outside the amphitheater. Feel free to explore the art installations and live paintings. There will be various craft vendors, as well as the local food trucks (including vegan options). Doors for the festival is at 12 pm and goes until 10:30 pm.

The series of events begins this Thursday, July 26th, with the official Burbs Pre-Party including headlining acts Boarcrok, GAPZ, Hendrix, and Slumbr Party. Tickets are currently only $10 which are available here.

The official Burbs afterparty featuring Mystic Grizzly, Laika Beats, Leet, and Nightchaser at Paddy O’s which has two rooms of music starting at 11 pm and goes until 3 am! Tickets are available here for $15.

This year, the event organizers were looking to shift the direction of the festival in terms of the music. Rather than limiting its horizons, they wanted to create an event that integrated artists from various genres to create a well-rounded lineup that could cater to anyone’s musical taste. And, they didn’t skimp out on the talent. The lineup boasts headlining acts from Eoto and Minnesota, whose sets are sure to be out of this world. However, there are a few lesser-known acts that I couldn’t help but highlight, and absolutely encourage you to check out.

Jade Cicada

Crossing the lines between trap, wobbly bass, and future bass, Jade Cicada has made a name for himself through his consistently unpredictable sound. Although heavily influenced by glitch and trip-hop, he has surely proved that he has no boundaries when it comes to his production talent.

Subdocta

Lately, Subdocta has been attracting a lot of attention to himself through his self-proclaimed “West Coast Wobble” sound. If you love all things heavy, insanely wobbly, with a hint of classic dubstep, Subdocta is someone to keep your eye on. His recently announced tour as support for Dirt Monkey is sure to put him on the map in a big way. In light of this huge tour, I would be regretful to miss this sure-to-be epic set.

Tickets are still available for the festival, but they are going fast! Purchase them, here!
