OctFest will be returning to Governors Island in New York City this September 8th and 9th. The festival is the brain child of Pitchfork, a leader in the music industry, and October, a prominent beer culture website. Only in its second year, the festival is expanding to two days and will feature more beer and today’s top musical acts.

Music

Headlining the event on Saturday will be Los Angeles rapper Vince Staples. On Sunday Grammy Award winners The Flaming Lips will close out the event. Support will come from Canadian instrumental group BADBADNOTGOOD, British singer and songwriter NAO, a special tribute to the 70’s from Nile Rodgers & CHIC, Chicago rapper Saba, New Jersey indie rock band Yo La Tengo, and many more.

Beer

Over 90 breweries from a dozen countries will be pouring at OctFest this year. Sampling will take place from 2pm-6pm. Each ticket holder will be given 15 3-oz samples totaling 45 oz each day of beer. Those wanting more can also purchase additional pours. Breweries range from local favorites like IC Beer Project to Canadian Collective Arts Brewing to Italian pourers Birra del Borgo.

Food

What is good beer without good food? The event will feature a “Food Village” curated by Bon Appétit in order to complement the wide array of craft beers. The area will be host to mouth watering New York City favorites like Mission Chinese Food, OddFellows Ice Cream Co., Roberta’s Pizza, and more for guest to enjoy.

Travel

Governors Island is located in the heart of New York Harbor, only 800 yards from Lower Manhattan and close to Brooklyn. The festival grounds can only be accessed via ferry. Luckily your ticket to the event includes a complimentary ferry ride to and from the event. They will be running every 30 minutes and attendees just need to show proof of tickets at the counter in order to ride.
