5 Artists to Catch at Ocean View During CRSSD ’18

CRSSD Fall Festival has truly become the chosen mecca for Southern Californians to end their jam-packed festival seasons with each September. We kick off the year with a cool, crisp CRSSD Spring (can you believe it’s already been 6 months?) and then each go onto our separate musical journeys and explorations. Some of us fest abroad, others like to keep it local. No matter the path, CRSSD Fall festival is the cherished tradition to bring us all together to reconnect and boogie one more time.

Now, we all know that CRSSD is synonymous with delicious house and techno. However, we can’t deny the fact that this festival also brings their A Game when it comes to satisfying the tastes of all dance music aficionados. The Ocean View lineup is definitely a testament to the diversity that CRSSD manages to bring each year.

Flight Facilities

This Australian based duo first came into my (and everyone else’s) radar with “Crave You” over 8 years ago. Their seamless fusion of disco, house, and pop has kept me hooked since then. Their music always presents a groovy vibe and original production that makes for perfect feel good tunes, and they’ll be rocking the Ocean View stage on Sunday from 6:15 to 7:10pm.

Marian Hill

Sexy and sultry, Marian Hill is the lovechild of production artist Jeremy Lloyd and vocalist Samantha Gongol. Their songs are ideal for when you need to catch a vibe and boost your confidence. A sound that can only be described as the perfect blend of R&B, blues, and pop- make sure to catch them Saturday at Ocean View from 7 to 8pm.

Sofi Tukker

Energetic and eclectic, Sofi Tukker presents a sound that gets the people movin’. The duo, while from America, does an exceptional job at incorporating Brazillian influences and Portuguese language. Never expect them to take themselves too seriously, either. Catch them shaking things up from 5:45 to 6pm on Saturday.

Hayden James

There’s somethin’ about Hayden James that continually gives us nostalgic feels presented through a futuristic lens. He creates melodic lyrics that take you back to the best moments of your life, and pairs them with beats that get your body shaking. Fun fact: he co-wrote a number of Katy Perry’s songs off of her Witness album. Make sure to see this Australian producer from 4:30 to 5:15 on Saturday.

Elderbrook

Unless you’ve been drinking too much Coca-Cola, you’ve probably seen the rise of Elderbrook. His career journey is a fascinating one that has taken him from being in an indie band, to singer-songwriter, to now, an electronic music guru. He has become a champion remixer, most notably becoming the official remixing artist for Clean Bandit’s “Rockabye”. Make sure to stop by Ocean View from 2:35 to 3:15 on Sunday to see this versatile artist do his thang.
